Turning Search Visibility Into Sales

How technical improvements made a local business visible in search engines.

The Challenge

Galvin Home Renovations’ website had multiple technical issues that limited its visibility in search, including pages marked “no index.” The content also needed to better connect the company’s services with the locations they serve.

What I Changed

I corrected the indexing settings, improved heading structure, and expanded service and location content so search engines could better understand what Galvin offers and deliver that information to searching customers.

The Results

Google Search Console showed increased visibility, particularly for the Cedar Shake Roofing page, which saw a 131% increase over five months. Galvin reported that two new customers found the business through Google, resulting in more than $200K in new business.

Key Takeaways

Fix the foundation

Technical issues were undermining otherwise useful content.

Match how customers search

City-specific and product-specific pages connected Galvin to homeowners searching in their local area.

Keep content fresh

After years without updates, adding new service pages and blog content kept the site current and gave search engines new content to explore.
